Southwest Imaging Council does not endorse any particular school listed below, however we do endorse an education and provide several scholarships as part of our service to our community for that purpose. This page is only intended to be used as a tool to help you by showing all options for Diagnostic Medical Imaging in the Greater Houston Area. Our only recommendation is to do some research, visit the schools in person, and weigh all of your options before making up your mind.
Public Schools may have more options for Financial Aid such as Grants and Federal Student Loans, as well as other funding such as scholarships. If going to Lone Star College (LSC) you may have additional funding resources such as CapitalIDEA which may pay for your entire education depending on your income. The University of Texas - M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (UTMDACC) - Offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Diagnostic Imaging (BSDI), and a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (BSMRI). they also now offer a Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. These programs are offered through their School of Health Professions.

Alvin Community College (ACC) - Offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree and Advanced Technical Certificates (ATC) in Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography (DCVS). Tracks offered are: Echocardiography, Non-Invasive Vascular Technology, and Pediatric Echocardiography in both the Certificate and Associates Degree programs.
Alvin Community College (ACC) - Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography (DCVS)
Galveston College - Offers Associates in Applied Science (AAS) Degree Program in Radiography (X-Ray), Nuclear Medicine Technology (Nuke Med), and Radiation Therapy. They also offer certificate programs in Mamography (Mammo) Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Radiation Therapy.
Galveston College - Radiologic Health Sciences
Lone Star College (LSC) - Offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Medical Radiologic Technology (X-Ray) and Advanced Technical Certificates (ATC) or Enhanced Skills Certificates in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS). Tracks include: Sonography Non-Invasive Vasculart Technology and Sonography Advanced Technical Certificate.
